Hello
all…
On a lighter note, if you ever need a spring fix
for steelhead then consider the lower Skeena watershed area with also
access to neighbouring watersheds during the period of late March to mid
May…chrome wild steelhead not far from the ocean are running…the forest
and mountains are just looking to change from winter to spring and the
views are majestic and stunning… www.westcoastfishing.ca does a great
job of putting you on the fish and your steelhead disease goes to
remission for a short time and all your troubles melt away.
Now
I look forward to the Norlakes Trout Lodge season…the ice is already off
Babine Lake…the snow pack is low and the fishing will commence
shortly…can’t wait to fish for wild trout followed by our annual salmon
and steelhead run so get ready to rumble…I am.

Hi
Gill,
Just wanted to drop you a quick line to thank you for organizing the
salmon fishing trip for us as we had a fantastic day out! Gord was just
brilliant, he didn't stop rowing us into the best spots all day and
entertaining us with his little stories. We didn't really know what to
expect from the day but we certainly didn't think that it could have
been that good. Should we hear of anyone heading towards Terrace we will
defiantly tell them to look you guys up.
If
you are interested we're keeping a blog and we've given you guys a
mention. I'm not sure if it will lead to any more bookings but you never
know with these things. I hope it will.
Thanks again!
Best regards
Ian and Heather

I am looking forward to getting to know you better as we got along

Gill, Stevie and I had an unbelievable fishing
experience with you and Joseph and your top guide, Austin.. Further, it
was nice to be with Warren and his new chick, Paulette!! Also, I found
the Australian, Allen ?, to be a super person. Could you email his email
address to me?? This would be most appreciated!
We would hope to return next year.
Thank you again,
Steve Murray
Gill,
I wanted to thank you again for a spectacular trip and the only
regret that I have is that I did not book a few extra days. Those Chum
salmon were like nothing I have ever encountered and on fly gear they
are at the top of the food chain in their environment. I had a ball
fishing with the Murray's and Warren and Joseph and I am still working
off the cooking from Chef James.
I have a big ass Chinook and a Steelhead to add to my list so I
will need some serious time on the water.
Take it easy and if you ever need anything give me a call.
Al
Gill,
Thanks
for a great week of fishing in one of Canada's most beautiful settings.
I have been spoiled with great natural beauty and fishing having spent
the past 37 years in Alaska, but it is still wonderful to make new
friends and fish new water. In spite of some difficult early April
fishing conditions this year, I appreciated the extra effort you
exhibited in putting me on some incredible fish; your skills as a guide
and knowledge of the rivers around Terrace were obvious. I also enjoyed
meeting and spending time with your family; lets do it again next
spring!

Sincerely,
G. Craig Freas

Dear
Gill, Tanya and Gordon.
Well once again you all did it again for me and my friends. We had an absolute fantastic
time, and the newcomers to the experience- Alistair and Ken were taken back with the
fishing. They have left Westcoast fishing with big smiles on there
faces, and I was happy as I gave them an experience they will never
forget. And they will be back..... watch this space.
For me it was great to see you all again, and have the fly-fishing of my
lifetime. I would just like to point out that if anybody finds a flyline attached to an angry chum
salmon, please return it to gill ,as the salmon didn't like the look of me and proceeded to carry on down river with with gills flyline that he kindly loaned
me. I also returned his reel that he also kindly loaned me in several pieces( these fish are like rottweiller with
fins)!!!!!!!!!!!!. Anybody who has not tried it, MUST DO !!!.
I have just one word for it all FANTASTIC!!!!!.We will see you next
year, and wish you all the best for the future.
Kind Regards. Craig
Hello
Gil and Gord.
I’m attaching a few of the great pictures from our trip last
month. I had an incredible time and will be sending you a CD of all my
pics. Please don’t hesitate to use me as a reference in the future. I’ll
be planning another trip for 2007. Tight lines in the meantime!

Hi
Gordon,
Here are the pictures of the fish we caught. The steelhead measured
41 inches long and a girth of 20 inches (measured with the fishing line
lengths you used and I saved ). Also pictured is the Coho and Steelhead
doubleheader that your father and I hooked into. I really enjoyed
fishing with you, something I will never forget.
Thanks again, Hank.
Dear Tanya,
I have just had a really complimentary email from the 3 guys who
loved their time with you and have said that while they are always
pretty busy they are thinking of a repeat trip next year and Damon
Buffini is seriously considering bringing his 8 year old son next time.
Thank you very much for looking after them so well (they said that
all the staff and the guides were superb) and I very much hope that
these are the first of many clients that we send to you – certainly on
this feedback I will have no hesitation in strongly recommending you
guys to my clients.
I look forward to working with you again and best of luck for the
rest of the season

Hello Everyone,
Wanted to say one more time what a great weekend Cordelle and I
had at the lodge! Thank you very much for the awesome time... the
fishing was such a blast, it's an experience we'll always remember! We
are getting our pictures developed by the weekend so we'll send some
along to you for your photo gallery if you'd like :)
Gord, any luck with finding your motor yet?
Once again, thank you for your wonderful hospitality. We felt so
relaxed and "back to nature" to be in Terrace, and we wish you
all a great summer and some big catches! :)
Take care all,
Angie and Cordelle
Hi Gill, Hi Gord,
Thank you once again for an awesome weekend of fishing, Gord did
an amazing job making those two days on the Kitimat river some of the
best days we have had in recent memory.
We look forward to be back!
Kind regards,
Johan Olsen
Hi Gil, Tanya and Gang,
I
am sorry that I didn’t write sooner to thank you all for your
wonderful hospitality and Gil for your excellent help to a very
inexperienced fly fisherman. I really did enjoy being with the whole
crew and want to thank you all again. I really enjoyed your beautiful
country and hope to fish with you again someday Gil. Sorry I didn’t
get to talk to you a little bit more the last morning but it got a
little hectic and hurried. But over all, it was a wonderful experience
for me. I do have a request if you can do it. I would really like a copy
of the picture of my fish so I can blow it up and hang it on my wall.
Just send it e-mail if possible. Thanks, Howard The one that I caught
last, Gil when my camera got wet.

Dear
Gil,
We are back to Germany in the rain now and we still have the best
memories of Terrace and Desiderata and would like to attach some photos
which you can put in your guest book.
Very best regards to everybody at Desiderata from Gregor, Dennis and
Rudolf Scholz
Hi Gill !
I just wanted to let you know that our
group had a blast up there last week! I am looking forward to next
Spring - maybe a little cooler weather and water.
Thanks again for a great time at your
beautiful lodge! The food and drinks were superb, to say the least. The
fish were just plain huge! Say hello to Justin, Robin, Robert and
"Flash" Gordon for me.
Sincerely,
Ken Geiger
Hi Gill and everybody,
Thanks for a great fishing holiday.
Our party of Ken Wheeler, Ken Niell, Fred and Glan Robinson, and myself
Craig, had one of the most memorable and fun holidays in our fishing
careers. We saw the most memorable sights and the fishing was excellent.
You really worked hard for all of us and your company as guides was
excellent and fun. I hope we were not too much trouble, as we liked a
bit of fun along the way. We all miss Mark's cocktails, and it's taken
me two weeks to sober up!!!!!!.
All
the boys really enjoyed the holiday, and are already talking about
booking for next year--thats if you can put up with all of us again?
Gill: I am thinking of buying the Simms G3 jacket, and I wonder if you
can give me a price on it? -- and the Redington Breakwater salmon reel
11/12 also. Could you possibly give us some indication of price for the
5 of us to come fishing again next year, and how to contact you either
by phone or email to arrange the bookings?
Like the photographs by the way. My
email address is [...] . Hope to hear from you very soon with regards
this matter.
PS send my regards to
Robin!!!!!!!!.
Kind regards,
Craig Bottomley.
Justin,
Greetings from warm and sunny
Florida... home to tailing bonefish and big tarpon....
I am sending this email to tell you
what a small world it really is... I was in our local flyshop last week,
and a client was in there raving about his trip to BC and the
fly-fishing.
He went on and on about the quality
and the friendly people, the skeena, and some rivers that they would not
tell the names of.... he referred to one as the "zipper
mouth".... it was then it hit me that he may be talking about you
guys.... I remember the actual names like yesterday, but it has been 10
years since we fished together....
I
fished with you and your family back when the Suburban was the river
limo and we did some AMAZING walk-ins to little streams.... and we all
stayed atthat downtown hotel and ate in the hotel restaurant.... and all
the while caught huge fresh kings in little water.
It looks like you guys have done
really really well.... The lodge looks great....
Anyway, the last ten years have been
great to me and the family... gotten to fish on-fly from New Zealand to
Hawaii.... But Terrace is still at the tops in the memory bank....
If I wanted to come back for the big
rainbows, what would you recommend in regards to the best weeks /
timeframe....
I have attached a photo of the two of
us from way back.... just for fun... let me know on the above question,
and again, congrats on doing such a great job... !
Best Wishes,
Chris

We certainly enjoyed our great trip and
the introduction to your wonderful area.
You're right, my camera didn't work
after its swim -- so I have nothing to remember the most remarkable
afternoon of my fishing life by. Would you be kind enough to send me the
negatives from the two roles of film that we took on your camera -- I'll
distribute prints to Rob and Mark, and you if you like, and return the
negatives.
Thanks,
Bill

Thanks a lot for the great trip!!!!
Here are some great pics. Please email me Gordo's mailing address --I
told him I would send him the tool he lost.
Let's keep in touch for the Spring run.
I've got more pictures if you want them
--let me know.
Thanks again,

Hi Justin,
Trust that your fishing/guiding this
week has been going well. Probably anything would be better than that
group of three that you had to deal with last week :>)
Just wanted to let you know that about
the last week of this month, you might expect a package from Amazon.Com.
The old teacher/new grandad in me wanted Taylor and Jamie (in the
future) to be able to have read to them one of our kids' and now our
grandkids' favorite stories. Although the setting is in Maine, it is
certainly suitable for two gals in BC.
Thanks, Justin, for a terrific trip.
All aspects of the adventure met my expectations and more so. The lodge
was very comfortable, and Connie, Dale, Mark and all the crew did a
superior job of keeping us very well fed from get-up through dinner.
Amber kept the rooms neat and tidy. We all enjoyed our two nights in
Stewart as well where the folks there could not have been more accommodating.
I deeply appreciate your patience, knowledge, advice in helping me to
develop some techniques to lead to some success on the water.
My goal was to hook and land one decent
Steelhead for the trip; so I was pleased at doing that and some more.
Your province is magnificently beautiful from the classic big rivers to
the rainforests to the glaciers/mountains to the lava fields. I loved
seeing it all. It was a Westcoast Fishing Adventure, indeed! (I now have
the hat to prove that I was there)
Best to all who help to make WFA work
well,
Tim
P.S. I look forward to seeing the
photos when you get a chance to post them.
Just wanted to thank you guys for your
hospitality. It was a great trip and one I hope to make again soon.
Justin, you're right in that I need to have a longer stay next time.
I'll definitely do that. I was wondering how Jim and Steve made out.
Hope they caught the big one they were looking for.
I'll look forward to the fishing
reports. Take care.
Jamie
Rob, Gill, Justin, Gord, and Tanya,
I just wanted to thank-you for making
my dream come true with the fabulous fishing trip last week. Sunday was
an exceptional day, drift boating the river. As I look at my pictures, I
still can't believe it's me holding not 1, but 4 fish that day. Rob sure
knows his stuff. As we passed other boats, I could see the frowns on
other peoples faces, as they had little, or no action during their day.
I've fished oceans and many many lakes, but there is no comparison to
catching a large Chinook while drifting the wild and swift river of the
Kitimat, where 1 fish peeled my line and we had to chase it for a
kilometer to reel it in. Also there is no comparison to fishing salmon
off a charter boat on the ocean. Nothing can beat this. The highlight of
the day, was while I was trying to bring in my largest chinook, I had it
3 times up close and Rob was waist deep in the water.
The
hook eventually popped out of his mouth and we thought we had lost it,
but Rob dove basically head first and grabbed him, his hands around its
huge tail. I also would like to report that all the fish were captured,
photographed, KISSED, and released.
I want to thank-you again for the
superb fishing, outstanding guiding, food made in heaven, the friendly
staff and the terrific accommodations. I will definitely book next year,
because I now know that I have an even stronger case of CHINOOKITIS.
P.S. I'm telling all my friends and
relatives and will be writing to the Winnipeg Free Press about my
experience. I will also be sending you a disc of the pics on Monday. If
anyone would like a recommendation, please have them call me.
Thank-you so much,
Gary Schewe .
Thanks again for a wonderful experience
and I am looking forward to my next trip. I'd love to come in October,
but we'll have to wait and see if its possible. Take care of
yourselves.
Joe Millett
Got your photos, thanks a lot. I found
a place where I could have the photos enlarged without the negatives.
Just got back from the Skaget fishing dogs with Wilbour. We killed them,
they sure are ugly. Much of our discussion was on how great the trip up
your way really was. It's too bad the fish weren't in heavy. Oh well,
you guys mad it up with your great personalities. Say hi to Justin and
we hope to see you at the show.
PS. The 225 and the poacher fly worked
in Washington too.
Dick.
[Dear] Richard,
Gil McKean and Justin Gyger were the
two guys we stayed with. They are in process of purchasing a 10 bedroom
lodge/hotel that will be their homebase.
A gourmet restaurant is connected and
is part of the fishing package. The food was to die for!
Their website is
www.westcoastfishing.ca and like I said, they bent over backward to get
us into fish...we even launched the jet in a lake and drove across to
the river outlets to fish for Pinks...which was a blast! The website is
impressive ! Check out some of the pictures on the photo page! Let 'em
know I sent ya...they'll take care of you!

Gord & Jim :
My wife saw a television show, I
believe it was on SportFishing BC, with Justin fishing for Coho on the
Skeena using jigs and spoons, she phoned me at work and said these guys
and having a blast and demanded I phone Westcoastfishing Adventures and
get the particulars. I phoned the next day and booked a trip for the end
of October. Do to work commitments I could only schedule for one day (
AND WHAT A DAY).
Thanks to Gord and Jim for the great
day of fishing. It took me a while to get the technique of jigging down
but once I did "BAM". This system really works! Gord's fishing
expertise and knowledge of the river is outstanding. Great fun, great
people. I hope to do this again in the future.
Thanks Again:
